The Washington Football Team and Dwayne Haskins found themselves down 17-0 early in their Week 1 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. By halftime they had managed to cut into the lead and make the score 17-7.

However, that 10 point lead still seemed hard to overcome as they had very little momentum going for them.

Someone needed to make a speech at halftime. And usually, you would expect that to be the head coach. That is especially the case when Ron Rivera is leading the charge.

That wasn't how it when down on Sunday though. Instead it was second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins that took the mantle. And according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post on Twitter and JP Finlay of NBCSports.com, it was a good one.

Dwayne Haskins received a lot of scrutiny in his rookie year of 2019. But this offseason there has been almost strictly praise coming from anyone that had seen Haskins working.

And now it appears to be paying off. Dwayne Haskins seems much more confident, and is clearly ready to step up as a leader. That is probably part of the reason he was voted as a captain by his team.

In most situations, it would likely be Rivera making the speech. However, the head coach is currently battling cancer. And during halftime he had an IV treatment just to be safe. Enter Dwayne Haskins.

Someone had to step up and address the team as they looked to battle back against a divisional foe. Apparently, that person was Dwayne Haskins.

What an incredible move by the young quarterback. Dwayne Haskins does not even have 10 career starts under his belt, and he's already making impassioned speeches that get the team riled up.

Washington came back and won the game. They finished the contest with 27 unanswered points and won the second half 20-0, winning the game 27-17.

Clearly, Haskins pumped the team up and got them in the right mindset for the second half. Could this be a new version of the young quarterback? Washington is certainly an intriguing team to watch. And it looks like they have a new leader.
