The Washington Football Team will face off against the Carolina Panthers this week. Ron Rivera will be coaching against his former team and his former starting quarterback, Cam Newton.

Cam Newton impressed this week in his first game of the season after being signed by the Panthers last week. He was able to have two touchdowns including one on the ground.

A few sources have noted that Newton might be the starter for the Panthers against Washington.

Washington has one of the best defenses in the NFL so expect Rivera to throw a couple of different looks at Cam Newton.

When asked by ProFootballTalk if he kept a file of plays whenever he has to defend against Newton, Rivera answered,

“Yes actually I do, to be honest with you,”

This indicates that Washington is going to throw a few different looks at him. Cam has always been great at making plays happen and if that's the case, Washington's going to have to throw out even more looks at him.

Both teams aren't playing great this year as Washington comes into this 3-6 on the season. The Panthers come into this 5-5 and are only a game and a half out of a playoff spot. It's going to be an interesting game to watch as coach Rivera and his Washington Football Team are coming back to take on his former team and Cam Newton. Cam is going to continue trying to prove that he is a starting quarterback in this league. From what we saw this past week, he might be right.
