When you have millions of dollars at your disposal, thanks to God-given talent, it makes sense to share the knowledge over to the youth – for free.

That’s what Pro Bowl MVP Michael Bennett proudly stands for as he is set to host his annual free camp, named after himself, in Oahu.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end has been doing this charitable act for four years already in hopes of reaching out to those who could not afford the payment to attend similar camps.

In a recent article by Sam Spangler for Khon2.com, Bennett, out of his passion for goodwill, pointed out Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry’s overnight camp held at the BYU-Hawaii campus. The said camp charged each participant a total of $2,250.

“I see a lot of different athletes come through Hawaii whether it’s Steph Curry or whoever it is. They all come here and it makes me mad, because I live in this community and I understand this community — that there’s so many kids who can’t afford to pay such a high amount of money. In my mind it’s like, how much money do you need before you start giving back for free? And I think a lot of athletes should start focusing on that.”

Bennett has already embraced Hawaii as his second home, and if athletes like himself start following his lead, even in their respective hometowns, the dividends are expected to be even more rewarding for both professionals and prodigies. In a time when professional athletes get paid a crazy sum of money, giving back to the community is a tremendous breath of fresh air.
