The Thunder have been rumored to be shopping Russell Westbrook. He is in the final remaining year of his contract, and after losing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors, the Oklahoma City Thunder might not want to risk losing their two best players in two consecutive years without getting anything in return.

Exit Oklahoma City, enter Boston. Right away, Russell would join the Celtics as the team's leader and floor general, and he'd quickly fulfill the superstar role that's been absent since the Big Three were shipped away.

Westbrook is one of the most explosive players in the league and has often been called the most athletic point guard in history. Out of all the teams in the league, there are few that could make a legitimately fair offer for the OKC specimen, but Boston may be one of them.

With a lot of young talent on the roster, such as Avery Bradley, along with potential talent like the 3rd pick in the NBA draft, Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics may be in the best position to make the Thunder an offer they can’t refuse.

With teams such as the Lakers and the 76ers being rumored to be interested in Westbrook, it would be a very smart move for Boston to attempt to make the acquisition as soon as possible. This is the opportunity Danny Ainge has been waiting for.

With the recent signing of Al Horford, Boston would be a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. There would only be a few potential threats that would stand in their way, primarily the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Again, they should act fast to take advantage of the situation in Oklahoma City, or before Westbrook decides that he doesn’t want to leave if the Thunder can promise to put quality talent on the roster and build the team around him.

Regardless of where Westbrook plays beyond this coming season, the thought of him being the undisputed top guy in a place he's comfortable is just scary.
