ENG vs NZ, 2022 Test Series. Brandon McCullum is all set to take on his home side New Zealand as a coach of the England Test team. This is the beginning of a new era for England cricket. New Zealand-born Ben Stokes is set to lead the English Test side after Joe Root stepped down as captain.
England is at the bottom of the points table of the World Test Championship with just one win in 13 Tests. That is the reason behind Joe Root stepping down as captain. England will be hoping to improve the performance in the WTC with Brandon McCullum as the new head coach.
There have been so many changes in England's Test team recently. Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson are back in the squad after getting dropped. ENG has called up a new set of batters to solve the opening and middle order crisis.
Before the Lord's Test, NZ played two practice matches against First Class Counties XI (FCCXI) and Sussex. All-round performances from Matt Henry, Ajaz Patel, and Neil Wagner are the only positive sign for the NZ camp. Batters have mostly struggled against the English fast bowlers.

Although NZ has named Henry Nicholls and Trent Boult in the 15-man squad, their availability for the Lord's Test is doubtful.
On the English side, Ollie Robinson is doubtful for the first Test.
Overall H2H Batting Stats:
- Kane Williamson and Tom Latham are the top-scoring batters against England, but it is worth noting that they have performed better while playing at home. English conditions have been tough for Kiwi batters.
- Only Devon Conway has been scoring at an exceptional batting average of 76.50! He also scored a phenomenal century at Lord's when NZ toured England last time.

Overall H2H Bowling Stats:
- With Trent Boult's availability in doubt, Matt Henry must be included in the playing 11. He has been phenomenal with the ball and bat as well. He has the ability to swing the ball both ways and bowl at a high pace.
- NZ has been playing without any specialist spinner in the team for a long time. It will be no surprise if Ajaz Patel is not included in the playing 11. Although, he has performed very well in the two practice matches.

NZ Batters In England:
- Only Kane Williamson and Devon Conway have scored a century in England among the current squad.
- Most of the Kiwi batters are relatively inexperienced in terms of playing in England. Some have played County cricket. Daryl Mitchell and Colin de Grandhome are a few of those with recent experience of English conditions.

Out of 38 Test series played between NZ and ENG, 23 have been won by ENG. NZ has managed to win only six series against ENG in the Test history. Whenever NZ has played a Test series in England, 72.22% of series have resulted in ENG winning the series.
An important point to consider here is that ENG is having a very long streak of losing the Tests. It will not be a cakewalk for English batters against the Kiwi bowling attack. The lack of Rory Burns and Dom Sibley at the top order is definitely a weak spot of ENG. This series will decide the future of Zack Crawley in Test cricket.
Only James Anderson and Stuart Broad are experienced enough to take on the stable batting of NZ. No other bowlers from the ENG squad have good matchups or experience playing against NZ or even experience playing the Test cricket.
The bottom line is that Brandon McCullum and England have more stakes on the line to test in against NZ in this Test series.
