The Chicago White Sox are a game under .500 after sweeping the San Francisco Giants. They have not had a winning record since the middle of May dispute being the favorite to reclaim the AL Central title. As their season now approaches its third full season, they have to get a move on. Lance Lynn is trying to rally the squad.
Lynn said that the White Sox have to take advantage of the momentum they have been building, per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
“You’ve seen us get back to or close to .500 and we’ll go four back under…We have to fight to get back to .500 and when we get there don’t let up. It can’t be ‘push to get there’ and when we get there, ‘OK.’ Can’t take a deep breath and see what’s going on. There’s no more deep breaths. We have to keep going and keep pushing till the end of the year.”
Lynn has tried to contribute after not starting his season until June 13th due to injury. In 22.0 innings, though, he has a 4.50 ERA. He recorded his first scoreless start of the season against the Giants, though, so he could be on the upswing. Although Michael Kopech and Dylan Cease are shining on the mound while Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson and Andrew Vaughn are hitting very well, the White Sox have been massively disappointing.
The scores of injuries to key players are partly to blame but so is manager Tony La Russa. Although he is still seen favorably by some players, he has made numerous mistakes throughout the season. As the White Sox return home to face the Minnesota Twins in a three-game series, they have to take Lynn's advice.
