Update: The White Sox are bringing back Adam Eaton, per NBC Sports Chicago's Chuck Garfien.

After a Wild Card exit in the 2020 MLB Postseason, the Chicago White Sox are shaking up their roster ahead of the upcoming season. They have recently traded for former All-Star pitcher Lance Lynn in exchange for sophomore pitcher Dane Dunning and a prospect in Avery Weems.

The recent move is expected to be followed up by more transactions by the White Sox, especially with the team looking to fill a need in the outfield, per USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale.

The move to land Lynn reunites him with a familiar face in the newly-hired White Sox manager Tony LaRussa. The two previously spent time together as members of the St. Louis Cardinals organization during Lynn's rookie season when they both snagged the 2011 World Series championship.

Among the White Sox's targets on their list are Michael Brantley, Joc Pederson, and Adam Eaton. The four-time All-Star Brantley is currently a free agent and is coming off a two-year stint with the Houston Astros. Last season, he hit .300/.364/.476 to go with five homers and 22 RBIs.

On the other hand, Pederson is fresh off a successful championship run with the Los Angeles Dodgers and has become a free agent after hitting seven home runs and 16 RBIs in the 2020 MLB season.

Meanwhile, the veteran Eaton recently concluded a four-year tenure with the Washington Nationals. He hit poorly this 2020, slashing just .226/.285/.384 with only four homers and 17 RBIs across 41 games. He played for the White Sox from 2014 to 2016.

The remainder of the offseason will see whether or not the White Sox will get to land their desired targets in a bid for deeper playoff runs under a new regime headed by Tony LaRussa in the coming seasons.
