Since coming out of retirement, Jason Witten has been a solid piece for the Dallas Cowboys. Although he doesn't look like the Hall of Fame tight end he once was and hasn't really been all that productive, the Cowboys weren't expecting him to return to 2010 Witten.

This week's matchup however, Witten will be needed and possibly utilized more than any other time this season. It is well documented that the Green Bay Packers weak spot in their defense is their linebacker position and if Witten can beat them to spots and run efficient routes he could have a big day.

So far this season, Witten has totaled 14 catches for 144 yards and a couple scores, which isn't too shabby for a guy that was in the booth 12 months ago.

This game is critical for both teams as neither wants to drop two in a row and fall to 3-2 after starting off undefeated. Dak Prescott is one of the smartest signal-callers in the league and will attack wherever he feels the Packers are most vulnerable, which is the linebacker position. In order to do that he will have to target Witten more than four times, which is his season high.

If there is ever a game where Witten can have a big impact, it is this one. Besides his fumble against the Saints, Witten has been reliable considering all the other mouths Prescott has to feed. If they are able to get their running game going early, that could open up the play action with a wide open Witten down the middle of the field.

Since Prescott has taken over as Dallas' quarterback, the Cowboys are 10-4 when coming off a loss. That bodes well for a Dallas team who are trying to prove they are legitimate contenders, despite their performance last week as the New Orleans defense was able to shut them down.

Witten will see a decent amount of snaps Sunday afternoon and will have to make the most of them. With Michael Gallup expected to return and see some snaps himself, that will be yet another threat that Green Bay will have to look out for.

While is Dallas determined to stay atop the NFC East, make no mistake about it, they will have a fight on their hands and will need all their weapons ready to go, including Witten.
