There is no downplaying how poorly Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears offense has been at the beginning of this season. However, there is reason for optimism for Matt Nagy's group in Week 3 against the Washington Redskins.

The Bears were able to squeak by with a victory over the Denver Broncos in Week 2 with Trubisky turning in his second straight disappointing outing of the season. Through two games, Trubisky has thrown for just 348 yards and an interception.

The third-year quarterback has failed to get into a rhythm and made mental mistakes left and right. With that being said, Trubisky will have a big performance for the Bears on Monday Night Football versus the Redskins.

The reason he will have a big performance is more of an indictment on the Redskins defense, rather than his ability under center as a signal-caller. As Trubisky has struggled to throw the ball, Washington has been unable to slow down the passing attack of opposing offenses.

Furthermore, the Redskins began their season by giving up 313 yards and three touchdowns to Carson Wentz in Week 1. Despite signing Landon Collins, the Redskins secondary has looked abysmal this season.

After surrendering plenty of big plays to the Eagles, Dak Prescott shredded Washington's defense for 269 yards and another three scores. Therefore, we could be in for a much-needed productive performance from Trubisky.

The third-year starter has shown flashes of his ability to lead the Bears offense, especially last year. In 2018, Trubisky had three games where he was able to throw for three touchdowns and 300 yards.

Could this be the week that Trubisky gets out of his early-season slump? This week is as good as any for the North Carolina alum to show the world he can still be the franchise quarterback in Chicago.

The Bears will be on national television on Monday Night Football and are favored to win this game. All Trubisky has to do is take what the Redskins defense gives him instead of trying to force plays that aren't there, as he's done in both of his games this year.

Chicago doesn't lack weapons on offense with Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Tarik Cohen, and David Montgomery. All they need is their starting quarterback to step up and give them the ball in open space.

The Redskins secondary coupled with Chicago's offensive weapons should allow Trubisky to have his best game of the season on Monday night.
