Sorry, New England Patriots fans, the dynasty is over, and it doesn't really matter if Tom Brady comes back.

It's been a good run for the Patriots led by Brady who has played in nine Super Bowls and won six of them.

And now, it's time for the Patriots to understand that it's time to go through a bit of a rebuild instead of trying to make little patches to fix the current team.

Why the dynasty is over if the team keeps Tom Brady

Everyone seems to blame the Patriots' offensive struggles on the lack of playmakers. There is no doubt the lack of playmakers didn't help, but a lot of struggles also have to go on Brady's shoulders.

Taking a look at some of the stats put out by playerprofiler.com, it shows just how much Brady struggled in 2019. Brady's red zone completion percentage ranked 27th, and his clean pocket percentage is 32nd.

A production premium is defined by the site as a true look at production, taking out situations that could stats line a two-minute drill or garbage time. Brady's production premium was -19.3 which ranked 33rd in the NFL.

The actual passing yards and touchdowns don't look like a big dip of production, but a closer look at the stats shows just how much Brady's play has fallen off.

Why the dynasty is over if Tom Brady moves on (or the Patriots move on from him)

If Tom Brady decides to go to a different team, or if the Patriots decide to move on from him, the dynasty will also be over. Behind Brady during the 2019 season were Jarrett Stidham and Cody Kessler.

There have been thoughts that Stidham could be the replacement for Brady, but there is no way he is ready yet. If the team was to start Stidham next season, there would be some major growing pains. It could be two or three years before they are competing again, and that isn't a sure bet.

The team could also go through the draft or free agency, but there really isn't a player free agency that would be an upgrade. Marcus Mariota could be an interesting option, but it's hard to imagine he is going to continue the dynasty.

Patriots and their fans are so used to having all kinds of success, and it might take a while to get used to the team being a middle of the pack squad for the next few years.
