Ryan Grant is the newest member of the Green Bay Packers offense and is looking to get his career back on track while playing alongside Aaron Rodgers. While he isn't a name that most teams would want to rely on, there is a good chance that the Packers will have to rely on him a bit this week against his former team, the Oakland Raiders.

In the two games that Grant has played this season with the Raiders, he caught just four passes for 14 yards. Those aren't exactly numbers that will scare opposing defenses.

Green Bay is dealing with a ton of injury issues at the wide receiver position. There is a good chance that Davante Adams will miss another game this week, although his toe appears to be healing nicely. Geronimo Allison could miss the game with a concussion and Marquez Valdes-Scantling is also hobbled with a couple of different injuries.

That leaves the Packers with Allen Lazard, who played a huge role for the team against the Detroit Lions. In addition to Lazard, the Packers will have Darrius Shepherd and Jake Kumerow available.

Grant may be new, but the Packers may end up having to throw him into the fire against his former team right off the bat.

Standing in at 6-foot-0 and 194 pounds, Grant is a more than capable wide receiver. He has shown flashes fo big-time potential, but there is a lot of work for him to do from a consistency standpoint. Playing alongside a quarterback like Rodgers should do wonders for his production.

Throughout his career thus far, Grant has been unable to prove that he should be given a consistent role in the offense. He is a solid receiver in nearly every aspect, but nothing jumps off the charts from a physical standpoint.

The Packers are looking to improve 6-1 on the young season this week against the Raiders. Grant knows the team well and will have a chance to make an impact. If he is given that opportunity to get onto the field, the Packers feel confident that he will be able to make plays when Rodgers looks his way.

Don't be surprised if he gets on the field early on this week. Assuming Adams and Allison are unable to play, the veteran wide receiver could find himself being one of the top targets in the offense.

Matt LaFleur always seems to find ways to get the most out of his offensive players. That will be the case once again with Grant. He may not be a star, but he is more than capable of stepping up and playing a role for the team if they call his number.
