The San Francisco 49ers last season came into the year with a lot of hope. It seemed like a turn of a new era. They had Jimmy Garoppolo healthy and the team finally seemed to be prepared for a playoff run. However, they didn't meet their expectations.

Garrapolo got hurt three games into the season. Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard went a combined 3-10, completely draining their season.

Their offense was pretty terrible. They averaged only 21.4 points per game, which ranked 21st in the entire NFL. Sure, they had George Kittle perform well. He had a total of 88 receptions for 1,377 yards and scored five total touchdowns. He had a huge year even with mediocre quarterbacks.

But the real problem wasn't even that their quarterbacks underperformed, it was the lack of a running game that made them completely one-dimensional. Matt Breida had an “okay” season. He ran for 814 yards and scored three touchdowns, but he wasn't a difference maker.

If the 49ers were able to get their hands on Le'Veon Bell, it would make so much sense for their team.

If the 49ers had a run game, it would open up their offense even more. They could run play action all day having an available tight end threat down the seam. Plus they'd have a running back who can run and go out and catch the ball out of the backfield.

Bell is one of the most dynamic running backs in the league. He can run between the tackles and on the edges. He uses his agility and strength to do a variety of moves through the gaps. The only thing stopping him would be his past troubles with violating the substance abuse policy.

He could be their number one feature back. He led the NFL in total carries in 2017 with 321. He also ran for 1,291 yards with nine touchdowns along with catching 85 passes for 655 yards and two touchdowns in 2017. He could be the back at the goal line and on all other downs. He's that great of a talent.

The 49ers have plenty of cap space. They have around $60 million this offseason and would be able to give him a large long-term deal. They have no reason to not go after his services. He's fresh and had a year off. It just makes total sense for their future.
