It was a major bounce-back year for the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. They finished 10-6 and in second place in the NFC North. This earned them a wild card spot and a date with the New Orleans Saints on the first weekend of the postseason. Minnesota entered that game at full health and pulled off a big upset.

The Vikings were not a healthy team all season long. Adam Thielen played in 10 games, but he was only healthy for about seven of them. Thielen is one half of arguably the best duo of wide receivers in the league along with Stefon Diggs. Once Thielen went out, the Vikings did not have much depth to replace him.

There is plenty of wide options at wide receiver for the Vikings in the draft and on the free-agent market. If they do not use their first-round pick on a receiver, they will look to free agency.

Geronimo Allison is an intriguing name that should be floated around the front office.

Could Allison stay in NFC North?

Allison is not  a big name that will excite many fans, but he would accomplish some goals for the Vikings if they decide to go that route.

First, Allison adds depth. Thielen was hurt in 2019 and the Vikings did not have a replacement. Allison is a player who can play in the slot and provide depth if another injury happens. Also, Diggs' name has been in trade rumors for two years now. It is unlikely that the Vikings move Diggs this season, but anything is possible.

Allison is going to come cheap. On the offensive side, the Vikings have to pay Kirk Cousins for one more season. Diggs and Thielen are both signed, and Dalvin Cook will eventually warrant a contract. Allison is a 26-year old player who will not come with a big price tag.

In 2019, Allison did not open many eyes. He played in all 16 games and caught 34 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns. He didn't get many targets on the Green Bay Packers. He is still a player who is worth a chance. It is a low-risk move in free agency.

The Vikings' window is unknown. Cousins is entering the final year of his massive three-year deal. It is unknown if Minnesota will give him another contract or move in a different direction. If Cousins leaves, maybe the Vikings trade Diggs after the season and decide to blow it up. The future of Mike Zimmer also depends on this upcoming season.

The Vikings are a team ready to win and they need to add some depth in certain positions.
