You'll soon be able to play League of Legends on your smartphone soon. Wild Rift arrives to iOS and Android this March 2021 for the Americas region.

League of Legends: Wild Rift open beta launches this March for Americas

Players all over the world have actually been playing League of Legends: Wild Rift for a while now. The game was first distributed in a limited capacity to select players in Brazil and the Philippines last June 2020. Riot Games planned to release the game wholesale by 2020, but that plan obviously didn't come to fruition. Instead, they are continuing the game's open beta phase, with the Americas receiving its turn this March.

In a video update released last Friday, Riot Games also announced huge additions to Wild Rift. Information on other Riot Games IP such as Legends of Runeterra and League of Legends PC were revealed during the video update.

The most notable of these updates is a Yordle-centric event that sees Teemo, Tristana, Corki, Lulu, and Kennen entering the Wild Rift. In an unrelated note, Rammus is also coming to the game. The rolling thunder was given a new passive, which allows Rammus to roll across the map passively without using his ultimate.

Riot Games also revealed that they are planning more events this year for Wild Rift. Some of these events will be shared with League of Legends PC. This approach allows players to share the event with their friends regardless of the platform they play on.

Riot Games is also adding other features to the game are a seasonal ranking system, an improved item inventory system, and some updates to the matchmaking experience.

A lot of things are in store for the game this year, including an upcoming competitive season. Riot Games promise that more information will come as the year roll on. A lot of these updates, including the Yordle-event, will be rolling out within this week.
