Marc Andre-Fleury remains a hot commodity in the pro hockey market, as teams appear to be lining up to court him once the NHL free agency kicks off on July 13. According to Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic, Fleury has at least five franchises willing to throw money for the services of the future Hall of Fame goalie, including the Minnesota Wild, who seems impressed enough with their experience of having him in front of the net for them last season.

Minnesota, Toronto, Colorado (if Kuemper doesn’t sign), Washington and perhaps Pittsburgh all possibilities for Marc-Andre Fleury ahead of next Wednesday’s market opening. Obviously the Wild hope to re-sign him before that happens.

At 37 years old, Fleury remains capable of playing at an elite level. In the 2021-22 NHL season, he posted a 28-23-5 record with a .908 SV% and 2.90 GAA across 56 games  (all starts) for the Chicago Blackhawks and the Wild. The Blackhawks shipped him to Minnesota ahead of the 2022 NHL trade deadline.

At the moment, the Wild only have Cam Talbot as the only goalie on their depth chart who is under team control for at least the 2022-23 NHL season.  Minnesota doesn't have spacious cap space, which is also why it was forced to let go of forward Kevin Fiala, so the Wild might have to make some financial maneuvers before seriously trying to sign Fleury in the offseason.

The lure of returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins, with whom he's won three Stanley Cups, might also be too good for Fleury to pass up, while the Colorado Avalanche are also another tasty landing spot for him, considering the top-to-bottom strength of the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
