Much of the attention on this year's free agency will be give to the big names like Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, and Gordon Hayward. But, there will also be a handful of lesser-known players who could turn out to be key signings for some teams.

Denver Nuggets shooting guard Will Barton is one of them, with many believing he is an underrated prospect at his position.

The Baltimore native has been playing solid basketball since his arrival in The Mile City three years ago. He's made a name for himself as a slasher, with the ability to throw down vicious slams. He is expected to generate a lot of interest from teams wanting to add a proven scorer, but he recently hinted that he would love to go home and play for the Washington Wizards.

This is definitely an intriguing development for the Wizards. However, they already have a good rotation of players at both guard positions, and they've already committed a lot of money to Bradley Beal, who is their starter at the two spot. Should they go after Barton, it will be interesting to see how much they'll offer him, and if he is willing to take on a reduced role.

This season, the 26-year-old averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 28.4 minutes per game. He will likely see less court time with the Wizards, should he end up with them. For what it's worth, adding him would be great for Washington's depth, but there's still a lot of factors to consider before this possibly comes to fruition.
