The Carolina Panthers are officially starting a third quarterback in the 2019 regular season. After the team's originally starter under center and former league MVP Cam Newton went down with a lingering injury, the Panthers gave the keys to the offense to backup quarterback Kyle Allen with rookie signal caller Will Grier next in line.

It was recently announced that the Panthers apparently want to see what they have in Grier, who has never started a NFL game as it stands today. With the NFC South franchise now officially out of playoff contention after coming up short in Week 15 against the surging Seattle Seahawks, Grier will receive the opportunity to show the football world what he can do on Sunday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts.

Because of the aforementioned Newton's continued injury struggles over the course of the last few seasons, it is more than likely that his time in Carolina has already come to an end. With Allen initially producing at a high rate en route to receiving immense praise, the team's struggles down the stretch ultimately got head coach Ron Rivera fired. Although the blame shouldn't fall solely on the shoulder of Allen, it no longer appears as though he is guaranteed a spot as Panthers quarterback of the future.

With all of that in mind, it is time for Grier to prove himself as the once heralded NFC South franchise moves in a different direction. Although Grier might not be in line to start come next season, the team will also need a backup come 2020-21.

Will Grier will produce a passing and a rushing touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts

Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Will Grier certainly has the skills to excel at the NFL level after previousy taking it opposing defenses on a regular basis at the collegiate level. With Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey slated to line up alongside Grier in the backfield against the Indianapolis Colts, the first-year signal caller will have his workload lessened right off the bat. However, because Grier has the ability to serve as a dynamic presence under center, the rookie quarterback will not only throw his first career NFL touchdown pass but he will also rush for another score.

Will Grier will not turn the football over against the Indianapolis Colts

In order to the Carolina Panthers to win with the team's third-string quarterback under center, the team simply cannot turn the football over against the Indianapolis Colts. While this is no easy task at the NFL level, Grier will come through for Carolina and won't turn the football over in Week 16 — especially with the Colts' playoff chances dwindling against another NFC South franchise in the surging New Orleans Saints.

Will Grier will lead the Carolina Panthers to victory over the Indianapolis Colts

In his first start atop the highest level, Carolina Panthers quarterback Will Grier will lead his team to victory. The opposing Indianapolis Colts will more than likely have nothing to really play for in Week 15, which could pave the way for Grier and company to claim a win on the road.
