Manchester United is reportedly looking for a new manager and Zinedine Zidane remains unfazed about it.

Contrary to what most Manchester United fans expected, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo did not put the club in a better position in this season's title race, especially in the English Premier League.

The Red Devils have lost three of their first nine English top flight games and the humiliating 0-5 loss to Liverpool marked the beginning of Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking saga.

Despite acknowledging that he has hit “rock bottom,” Solskjaer insisted that as far as he is concerned, he is still Manchester United's manager.

“This is the worst feeling,” Solskjaer said after loss to Liverpool via Manchester Evening News. “You feel rock bottom and the feeling we've had, that we are getting to where we want to be, has been there. But in the last few weeks we've hit a brick wall. The results haven't come, the performances haven't come, we've conceded too many goals, too many easy goals and that's a concern.”

“Well, I've heard nothing else [on my future] and I'm still thinking about tomorrow's work,” he added. “Of course, we're all low, I can't say now that I've felt any worse than this, this is the worse I've been, the lowest I've been, but I accept the responsibility and that is mine today and it's mine going forward.”

Technically, the Norwegian is right. However, this is not how most fans feel about the situation. Clamors of his departure has reached a crescendo and the name of former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has been thrown in the conversation.

The renowned club manager is being tipped to succeed Solskjaer for obvious reasons. One, he has proven that he can win and atop that, he and Ronaldo has had a great working relationship during their time in Spain, a stint that saw the Portuguese striker bagging a total of 112 goals in 114 appearances for Los Blancos.

“The confidence that a player needs doesn't only come from himself but also from the players around him and the coach,” Ronaldo said when talking about Zidane in 2019 via Bleacher Report. “You need to feel like you are an important part of the group and Zidane made me feel special.”

“He helped me a lot,” he continued. “I already had a lot of respect for him but working with him made me admire him more. “That's because of what he's like as a person, how he talks, how he led the team and how he treated me.”

At present, Ronaldo is believed to have the same thoughts about Zidane amid Manchester United woes. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is even said to be recommending his former mentor's move to Old Trafford.

In a perfect world, the Ronaldo-Zidane reunion at Manchester United will be phenomenal. However, that is a scenery unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Various reports claim that Zidane, who decided not to take any coaching job after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season, is not considering ending his retirement. And besides Ronaldo, Manchester United doesn't have anything to use as bargaining chip to lure the “Zizou.”
