Los Angeles Clippers offseason addition Willie Reed was involved in a domestic dispute over the weekend that landed him in jail for the incident that dealt with his wife, Jasmine Reed.

The 27-year-old had allegedly been in a physical altercation with his wife that spawned from an argument on late Saturday night. There were reports that Jasmine had stated he knocked her to the ground at one point along with grabbing her hair, shirt, and arm.

However, Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel is reporting that she has decided to not press any charges against the veteran big man:

“This incident has been totally blown out of proportion. I did not call the police and I did not ask anyone to call the police on my behalf. Willie is a good man and a great father. I have no intention of pressing charges and I have asked the authorities to immediately dismiss all charges against Willie. This is a private matter between my husband and I and for the sake of our family I would like to keep it that way.”

She also stated that there is no feeling of intimidation or fear of her husband to influence her to drop every charge against him. Along with that, there is no desire to pursue this matter any further.

The argument between the two reportedly stemmed from his wife stating that she wanted a divorce from him. Although his wife does not want to press charges against him, the league will likely take some sort of action toward him that could result in a possible suspension.

Reed's arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 8, which is about three weeks before the start training camp around the league. The NBA will likely wait until after the case is resolved before stepping in the situation. The Clippers had inked Reed to a one-year, $1.6 million deal last month following a breakout year with the Miami Heat as the primary backup to Hassan Whiteside.
