It wouldn't be a Nick Kyrgios match without something wild or dramatic happening, would it? Kyrgios was involved in a controversial moment during his first-round match at Wimbledon on Tuesday. Not only was the match, which went five sets, entertaining, but the ATP star made a questionable move after securing victory.

After the win, Kyrgios turned and spit in the direction of a Wimbledon fan who was allegedly verbally abusing him during the match. Here's what the Australian tennis player said after the match, per ESPN.

“Today, as soon as I won the match, I turned to him … I've been dealing with hate and negativity for a long time, so I don't feel like I owed that person anything,” Kyrgios said. He had also asked for the fan to be removed, he said.

“He literally came to the match to literally just, like, not even support anyone really,” Kyrgios said. “It was more just to stir up and disrespect. That's fine. But if I give it back to you, then that's just how it is.”

Kyrgios said that the fan came to Wimbledon to “stir up and disrespect.” The spitting incident wasn't the only thing that went down.

Kyrgios called a lineswoman a “snitch” after she went to speak to the umpire about something Kyrgios allegedly said.

At one point during the Wimbledon match, Kyrgios said, “I don't start clapping when they're scanning s–t at a supermarket, do I?”

Not only is Kyrgios off to a bit of a rocky start in terms of his play, but he is also off to a rough start with the fans at Wimbledon so far in 2022.
