Windows 11 will be all about gaming, as Microsoft adds three gaming-centric features in the new OS.

The first and most important gaming feature to be added in Windows 11 is Xbox Game Pass integration. Just as how the Xbox Game Pass has slowly been integrated into Windows 10's Game Bar, the Xbox Game Pass will become fully supported once the new OS rolls out. According to Microsoft, the Xbox Game Pass service will be “built right into Windows 11.” The Xbox App on Windows 11 will offer Xbox Cloud Gaming for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This is an upgrade from the current implementation of Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC, which only runs through a browser now.

Meanwhile, Xbox Cloud Gaming will also be arriving on Xbox One soon.

As for the other two gaming features on Windows 11, these are Auto HDR and DirectStorage API.

For Auto HDR, thousands of HDR-supported games will automatically be enhanced when played on Windows 11. They showed comparative footage between the regular graphics for Skyrim and the auto HDR version. Of course, the graphics upgrade is very evident. Microsoft claims that there are over a thousand games that support this feature – and it's something that doesn't need any developer participation.

As for the DirectStorage API, we know that this feature will come to both Xbox and PC. This technology will help increase read and write speeds, greatly reducing load times and allowing developers to create games with large, vast, and open worlds, with more details and less padding.

While Microsoft doesn't have an exact release date yet for the new OS, owners of genuine Windows 10 OS will be able to upgrade for free this Holiday 2021.
