Among the teams salivating to take a crack at landing soon-to-be free agent Paul George, the Washington Wizards who have added themselves to the race and will make a run at the All-Star forward.

The Wizards are currently in exploratory talks with the Indiana Pacers, and while they don't have a star of near-equal value to trade, some expect the idea of playing alongside an All-Star backcourt will suffice for the Fresno State star:

“The Wizards are looking for a way to make a George deal happen,” wrote NBA.com's David Aldridge. “They don’t have a player of [Kevin] Love’s caliber to put in a deal; they’re not moving Bradley Beal after the 23-year-old just had his best NBA season. Playing alongside Washington’s backcourt of Beal and John Wall, after all, would be the selling point for George in D.C.”

Aldridge said that Otto Porter could be a potential trade chip, but he'd have to agree to a sign-and-trade, which would require him taking less money, per the new collective bargaining agreement.

If the Wizards choose not to trade Beal, then Porter and the likes of Markieff Morris, Marcin Gortat, and Kelly Oubre Jr. could come up as part of the conversation.

The Wizards will likely have to shell out a good deck of players in order to garner interest, as several teams are currently making offers for the All-Star small forward.

Expect the Pacers to be diligent with the process, but not overly patient, considering they have a brand new general manager and president of basketball operations in Kevin Pritchard, and a roster anxious to compete in the Eastern Conference.

Pritchard's job status could largely depend on this inherited situation. He'll likely take every call into consideration, looking out for the best interest of the franchise and reportedly not putting George's preferences in his list of priorities.
