A somewhat unpredictable friendship has formed between MLB superstar Alex Rodriguez and current Washington Wizards all-star Bradley Beal. The two were introduced by a mutual friend, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Washington. Rodriguez and Beal had joined forces with the same group to try and purchase the New York Mets in 2020. While they ultimately fell short on that front, Rodriguez came away with an admiration for the Wizards franchise superstar.

“Right off the bat, you meet him, you meet his wife; you just know this kid is special.”

“You know he’s humble, he’s soft-spoken, he’s quick to listen, slow to talk. That’s a rare combination for someone who is so damn talented and so good… [And] he grew up surprisingly – and this shocked me – when he grew up he was a big fan and that he loved baseball, which made me very happy.” – Alex Rodriguez talking to NBC Washington

The feeling was reciprocated by the Wizards' bucket-getter.

“I always viewed him as one of my favorite baseball players growing up and was a huge fan of his business goals and everything he's created after baseball. I was definitely interested in just having a mentorship and a business relationship with Alex. He was the same way.” – Bradley Beal talking to NBC Washington

Rodriguez was able to flip the narrative that had been cast on him a few years ago. He went from being a guy many disliked due to his reported steroid use, to a widely respected voice on multiple television networks discussing Major League Baseball.

Beal is already a superstar with the Wizards. The only big question surrounding him is whether or not his long-term future will remain with the Wizards. Maybe Rodriguez will have some advice for him, from one superstar to another.
