Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks lambasted his team's effort on Sunday, calling some of his players soft in the team's 117-126 letdown versus the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

Although the team's superstar Bradley Beal continues to be one of the few bright spots for the Wizards this season, the 26-year-old sharpshooter said he was one of the guilty parties in Sunday's loss.

“I put myself in that group, too. I can be better on the defensive end and all-around game. I think we all could be better. Coach is absolutely right,” Beal said, per Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

Bradley Beal, who finished with a career-high 53 points on 15-27 shooting, also pointed out the Wizards' lackluster effort on the defensive end.

“We’re playing soft. It’s pretty simple. We’re playing soft. We’re playing just comfortable and it’s disappointing. Two nights ago we gave up 7 and-ones. Tonight we gave up 9 and-ones. It’s unheard of.”

Washington is currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 20-35 win-loss slate. The team still has a good chance of catching up with the current eighth seed Orlando Magic, who holds a 24-32 record.

However, in order to do so, Washington must shore up its many shortcomings — particularly in the defensive side of the ball. With John Wall not expected to return anytime soon, Beal has taken over the scoring and playmaking duties for the Wizards.

Heading to Sunday's match-up, Bradley Beal has been averaging 29.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and a career-best 6.1 assists. He is knocking down 45.0 percent of his field goals and 31.6 percent of his 3-pointers.
