Ever since John Wall has been out the of the Washington Wizards' lineup to recover from knee surgery, the team hasn't skipped a beat. The Wizards are currently ranked fourth in the Eastern Conference and haven't lost much ground since Wall's injury. Much of the credit goes to Bradley Beal, whom has been the Wizards' leader during this recent stretch.

Beal is currently averaging 23.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He's been the Wizards' most effective offensive player, and he is just one of five players that have scored 50 points this season. While Beal's star potential continues to grow, his leadership role is increasing as well with Wall on the shelf. Per Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, Beal had some interesting comments about his leadership role with the Wizards.

“I always say leaders are born,” Beal said. “It’s kind of hard to make a leader. You can’t really force somebody to have leadership qualities. You can tell when it’s forced and when it’s just natural. For me, it was just a natural thing for me to do.

After receiving a max contact with the Wizards a few seasons ago, Beal stepped up and has become the Wizards' number one option on offense. His smooth offensive game disturbs many opposing defenders to fail to properly guard his excellent 3-point shooting and stepback jumpshots. Though, it now appears that Beal is settling into a role that few players in the league possess. He is becoming a leader for the Wizards franchise, and that should be good news, especially when Wall returns in the future.
