The Washington Wizards recently decided to split their three-pronged core of John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr., sending the latter to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker. However, their re-tooling efforts can all change if Beal makes the All-NBA team, which could put him in line for a beefy $194 million contract over the next four years, one that would start at a steep $40 million in the 2021-22 season, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.

The Wizards are already tied into a supermax extension from Wall, which will see him make $169 million over the next four years. Wall hit the shelf early this season and is expected to potentially miss part or even the entire 2019-20 season.

That puts the franchise in a precarious position, as Wall is likely untradable at this point, given his history of injuries and the current one he's rehabilitating from, making Beal the only cog they can flip in case he becomes eligible for the supermax.

It will be a tough decision to trade away the team's best player, but something necessary for a team that already faces potential salary cap repercussions.

Beal has elevated his game as one of the top-five shooting guards in the league, and if he makes one of the three All-NBA teams, one of the best three at his position.

If he fails to make it, both sides will move on as if nothing had happened, but being wary of this potential situation will determine the outlook of this franchise and the future of this roster as it sits.
