Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards have largely struggled to begin the 2020-21 season.

After trading away franchise stalwart John Wall during the offseason for former MVP Russell Westbrook, expectations were high both within the organization and in the fanbase. However, the team is yet to really gel and have been having a hard time to string wins, as they fell to 4-13 in the standings following Tuesday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Following the contest, Beal addressed the team’s biggest problem, which they hope to resolve sooner rather than later.

Bradley Beal called the Wizards' “consistency” their Achilles’ heel, which is certainly something that can’t be denied.

After getting blown out in four consecutive games by the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans and the Atlanta Hawks, the team bounced back with an utterly thrilling come-from-behind win on Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets–a game that ended with back-to-back triples from Beal and Westbrook.

Despite that hugely entertaining game, it was only the fourth win of the season for the Wizards, who were forced out of action for an extended period of time due to multiple instances of COVID-19 contact tracing and positive tests.

That part of the team’s season in particular is likely one of the main culprits for their lack of consistency. While the Wizards were actually invited to the Orlando bubble last season, the team this year is far different from the one they trotted out in the bubble.

Couple that with an extended delay due to COVID, and there’s no surprise that the Wizards are inconsistent on a night-to-night basis.

Of course, they’re giving up a staggering 121.8 points per game to opponents each night, so some consistent defense might help them out the most.
