The Washington Wizards set the NBA on fire at the beginning of the season, contending for a top seed in the Eastern Conference nearly a quarter of the way through the season. Now, they're the ones that have been burned as they have one of the worst records in the league since the start of December.

Washington's failure to make any meaningful moves has brought the future of Bradley Beal with the organization to an impasse. The organization clearly cannot build around him and he admitted that he doesn't want to be part of a play-in-tournament-level team.

Per Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington:

“Oh, that would be something I’ve got to sit down and think about, honestly, because I don't want to be a play-in team. I don't think anybody in our organization wants to be a play-in team. And I think so from that standpoint, I'm not alone in that thinking. I think we all know that we can be better than a play-in team. And we’ve obviously got to put in the work and do that,” Beal said.

“But I mean, I feel like that's a step back in a lot of ways and we're trying to proceed forward and that's kind of either staying the same as last year or not making any progress at all. And so, that plays a factor into it. But until that happens, I can't [say].”

Beal has long been against being traded from the Wizards but there isn't much more room to do anything else. Blowing a 35-point advantage to an undermanned LA Clippers team shows how badly the organization needs to reset.
