Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal will have his first shot to go against former teammate John Wall his squad faces the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

Beal said he anticipates Wall will be raring to go in his first game against his old team:

“I’m sure we’re gonna expect an energetic John Wall,” Wizards star Bradley Beal said about the Rockets guard, via Fred Katz of The Athletic. “I think we all know that. I mean, I don’t know what you want me to say. I’ve never played against John before, so this is all new to me. But he’s gonna be energetic.”

It remains to be seen just how much John Wall will play Tuesday night.

The former All-NBA guard made his return to the rotation Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks after a five-game absence due to knee soreness. Wall played under 21 minutes in that contest, and head coach Stephen Silas could look to gradually build his minutes back up so as to avoid aggravating the knee issue. In any event, Beal expects Wall to be motivated.

Beal and Wall were Wizards teammates for eight seasons, developing a friendship and creating an identity as one of the best backcourts in the NBA.

But Wall's injury issues really allowed Beal to flourish as one of the best combo guards in basketball, ultimately resulting in Washington choosing to build around the former Florida star. That mindset miffed Wall, who still felt he could be a franchise player. He demanded a trade, and now finds himself on a Rockets team in desperate need of a leader in the aftermath of the James Harden saga.

The former friends will go at it Tuesday night in Houston, and Bradley Beal is ready for the best version of John Wall.
