A three-team trade that would have sent Trevor Ariza to the Washington Wizards and Kelly Oubre to the Memphis Grizzlies will no longer happen, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. A lack of communication between which Brooks on the Phoenix Suns — Marshon or Dillon — caused the deal to fall through.

The Wizards were included as the middle-man in the trade offers, and it led to the miscommunication. The Grizzlies thought they were trading Marshon Brooks, and the Suns believed it was Dillon Brooks.

But Memphis refused to include Dillon Brooks and give up Marshon Brooks instead, so the deal did not go through.

Woj says it best:

Dillon Brooks is in his second season in the NBA averaging 6.8 points, 2.1 points, and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field. MarShon Brooks, meanwhile, played 24 games as a backup this season.

If the trade had gone through, the Wizards would have taken on Ariza and sent Oubre to the Grizzlies. The Suns would've acquired Austin Rivers from the Wizards as well as Marshon Brooks and Wayne Selden of the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies would've sent two conditional second-round picks to Washington as well.

Trevor Ariza has been front and center of trade rumors this past week. The Lakers have been mentioned in having interest in the wing, and so have the Miami Heat. Though, someone would need to take on Kentavious-Caldwell Pope's contract. The Detroit Pistons reportedly had interest in bringing him back via trade.

Ariza had signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Phoenix Suns this past offseason. Any transaction he might be involved with cannot be official until this Saturday. This is when free agents from the 2018 offseason are eligible to be moved.
