Danny Ferry reportedly interviewed with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday for the general manager position, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

The Wizards fired Ernie Grunfeld on April 2. He had been with the franchise since 2003.

Ferry has been an executive with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans.

The Wizards missed the playoffs this season for the first time since 2016. All-Star point guard John Wall's supermax contract kicks in next season, but it's unknown if Wall is going to play in 2019-20. Wall is recovering from heel and Achilles surgery.

Whoever becomes the general manager of the Wizards will have their work cut out for them. Trading Wall seems impossible right now considering the injuries he's dealing with and the contract he has. Bradley Beal has turned himself into a star guard in the league. If Beal makes one of the All-NBA teams this season, he'll become eligible for the supermax contract as well. Having all that money tied to Wall and Beal could be problematic.

Then there's the Dwight Howard nightmare. The center only played in nine games this season because of a back injury which required surgery. Howard has already picked up his player-option for next season. He'll make $5,603,850.
