Washington Wizards sharpshooter Davis Bertans opted not to play in the bubble games down in Orlando, Florida and he was called out by Orlando Magic forward Evan Fournier.

Bertans, who becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason, has torn his ACL twice, so he decided not to play at Walt Disney World since he's set up to get a huge payday this offseason.

On the ‘Basketball Network' show on YouTube, Bertans opened up about not playing at Disney World. The Wizards veteran also discussed his beef with Fournier.

Via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington:

“I think there were multiple reasons,” Bertans said. “Of course, one of the main ones I guess is that I was an upcoming free agent and we were put in a position as very unlikely to make the playoffs. To risk an injury after not playing basketball and not really working out for almost two months [was not smart]. That was the main reason.

“If I had another year of guaranteed $19 million a year, then I would probably also be there in Orlando playing. Also, if my team had a playoff opportunity. It's a completely different thing. You've gotta try to be in somebody else's shoes in that situation.”

Evan Fournier is set to make $17 million next season. His Magic were also in the playoff picture when the seeding games started and Orlando wound up making the postseason.

Bertans is going to get paid this offseason since he's one of the best stretch shooters in the NBA. He averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Wizards in 2019-20 while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 42.4 percent from beyond the arc and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards would be smart to re-sign Bertans, as the Latvian Laser could hit even more 3-pointers next season since All-Star point guard John Wall will be back in the lineup next to superstar Bradley Beal.
