Dwight Howard's first season with the Washington Wizards just keeps getting worse and worse.

Howard, who is recovering from back surgery, tweaked his hamstring in a non-contract drill. Wizards head coach Scott Brooks told local reporters on Tuesday it's a minor setback for Howard.

Howard has only played in nine games this season for the Wizards. He's averaging 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 62.3 percent from the field.

The eight-time All-Star signed a two-year, $10.9 million deal with Washington last summer. Howard has a player-option worth $5,603,850 for next season, one that he will surely pick up.

The Wizards are 26-37 on the season, good for 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Washington is three games back of the Orlando Magic for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

No one knows if Howard is going to play again this season. After averaging 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds with the Charlotte Hornets last season, Howard was looking to build off that season and help Washington make the postseason this year. His back, however, hasn't allowed him to.

The Wizards are coming off a 135-121 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Washington takes on the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday at home. From this point forward, the Wizards have to win every game if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.
