The Washington Wizards and unrestricted free agent Jeff Green have reached a one-year, $2.5 million agreement, according to several reports.

As Aldridge notes on his official report, the Wizards are likely making this move to sure up their wing positions, as the team recently lost Mike Scott to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Green, now 31 years of age, played 78 games for the Cavs last season on a one-year deal. The former Georgetown Hoya racked up averages of 10.8 points on 47.7 percent shooting from the field (31.2 percent from beyond the arc), 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Over the course of his 10-year career in the NBA, Green has amassed averages of 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He's played for several other teams over that span, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic.

“Even after agreeing to sign Green and claiming Thomas Bryant off waivers, the Wizards likely aren’t done addressing their frontcourt. Having sent Marcin Gortat to the Clippers last week, Washington only has Ian Mahinmi, Jason Smith, and Bryant at center.

“The Wizards likely won’t have their full mid-level exception available, since they project to be over the tax line, but the team still has the taxpayer’s MLE ($5.337MM) if needed.”

Joining the Wizards will be a solid opportunity for Green, who served as a role player of sorts with the Cavs. And while the deal is not solidified yet, it sounds like both sides are ready to put pen to paper, as they say.
