Washington Wizards star John Wall is more than happy to be welcoming in a talent like Trevor Ariza to the team after the recent trade with the Phoenix Suns.

After a wacky few days of trade reports that saw a three-team deal between the Wizards, Suns, and Memphis Grizzlies fall through due to the whole confusion surrounding whether Dillon Brooks or MarShon Brooks was being dealt, Ariza was finally dealt to Washington.

Wall is thrilled about adding a veteran contributor on the floor, not to mention a former teammate.

From David Aldridge of The Athletic:

“I think it’s just great (to have a veteran presence in the locker room), and especially a guy that won a championship,” John Wall said Saturday of Ariza, who indeed won a ring with the Lakers. “You get more from what he understands about what it takes. And also, I’ve learned from Jeff (Green) this year. He didn’t win it, but he was in the Finals (with Cleveland). He understands what it takes to get there. I think, just, guys need that.”

Ariza averaged 9.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while starting all 26 games for the Suns, and now he'll look to become a valuable member of the Washington rotation. At this point, the Wizards could certainly use a boost.

Scott Brooks' team is currently in the middle of a four-game losing streak, and with four of their next six on the road, the Wizards need to get back on track in a hurry so that the 11-18 record doesn't become even worse.

Next up is a Sunday home matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers, who were also rumored to be involved in trying to land Ariza.
