Washington Wizards dime maestro John Wall has been tormented with a mystery involving his bothersome left knee, which is slated to cost him his second straight game as he heads to Cleveland to get a second opinion. Wall has been dealing with knee soreness, stemming from an early-November injury — one which has marred his season at times, as he's failed to be fully healthy for a long stretch of time.

“It’s a concern but we have to trust that the doctors and everybody is going to have the best game plan for him going forward and it’s always about him going forward, not about us going forward,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. “We want to make sure, not only with John but with all our guys that their career is most important. But right now I don’t know how concerned, but we’re definitely concerned that it is bothering him from time to time.”

Wall is slated to visit with orthopedic surgeon Richard D. Parker of the Cleveland Clinic Marymount later today. Parker performed both of Wall’s knee surgeries in May 2016 and also consulted with him earlier in the season when the injury first occurred.

“We don’t know what that means,” Brooks said of Wall’s second meeting with Parker. “We just know that they’re going to all meet and we’re going to go from there . . . The next couple of days we’ll know more.”

The mystery remains on why the soreness has become chronic and finding out if it's a matter of rest or going under the knife is part of the process. Brooks recently said his point guard has had fluid from his knee drained several times — an issue the team will be looking to address sooner rather than later as the Wizards approach the latter stretch of the season.
