The Washington Wizards have managed to stay in the thick of the Eastern Conference despite the absence of superstar point guard John Wall thanks in large part to the recent scoring surge from shooting guard Bradley Beal. The former third overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft scored a career-high 51 points last week and has managed to follow up with strong performances since.

Even prior to the Wizards matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night, Wall had high praise for Beal's recent versatile scoring ability, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post

“He’s already a lethal scorer,” Wall said., “But he’s finding ways to do it in so many other ways, getting downhill and getting to the basket and a guy like that that can score in various ways and get into a rhythm, the basket’s big.”

Beal followed up on Wall's notion that night with 25 points while going 5-of-11 from three-point land. More importantly, Beal was clutch down the stretch and could have even won with a buzzer-beater had he released the ball in time.

Even with Wall in the backcourt, Beal has been well-regarded for his scoring prowess. However, his recent surge leaves question as to whether how much the superstar's impending return will affect his recent output.
