The Washington Wizards got back on track with a 111-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The rematch win was just what they needed after dropping their first game in Los Angeles amidst all the trash-talk that preceded.

This time, however, superstar John Wall followed through with a stellar performance while Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball's shooting woes are still ongoing. Despite a strong overall outing, the No. 2 overall pick continues to receive scathing criticism as a result of the expectations set on him prior to the 2017-18 NBA season. According to Michael Lee of Yahoo Sports, Wall talked about how tough it is to come in with all the hype from both his father and the Lakers organization:

“It’s tough,” Wall said. “I mean, his dad does a lot of talking for him. Him saying he didn’t want to play for anybody but the Lakers. Him being a Laker. They want him to be the next franchise guy for them. It’s a lot of burden to fall behind Kobe Bryant.”

Although the young point guard posted a solid stat line at 10/8/8, his trouble shooting has yet to cease through the first 11 games of the year. There is no doubt that the expectations set on the Lakers rookie this year would be a bit unrealistic given the aforementioned combination.

Wall certainly seemed much more compassionate of Ball's situation this time around. Perhaps he coupled the elder Ball's claims with the relateable pressure of trying to uplift a struggling franchise into championship contention.
