Phoenix Suns small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was teammates with Dwight Howard on the Washington Wizards last season for a little bit before the Wizards traded the lefty to the Suns in the Trevor Ariza deal.

Oubre Jr. says Howard was a good teammate in Washington, but admits the big man was a “little distant” since he was dealing with his back injury which eventually required surgery.

Per TMZ:

Dwight Howard only played in nine games with the Wizards last season. He averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 62.3 percent from the field.

Howard underwent a lumbar microdiscotemy in November and never played for Washington again. The Wizards traded the veteran to the Memphis Grizzlies this summer.

After Memphis waived Howard, he signed a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Purple and Gold needed another center after losing DeMarcus Cousins to an ACL tear.

Since his prime days with the Orlando Magic ended, Howard has played for the Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Wizards. His demise in the NBA has been sad to watch.
