If Corey Kispert lives up to his potential, the Washington Wizards may have the next Klay Thompson or even better.

Kispert, who was drafted by the Wizards with the 15th pick in the 2021 NBA draft, doubled down on his admiration for the Golden State Warriors star and highlighted how he modeled his game after Thompson. He also shared that legendary sharpshooter Ray Allen has an influence on his game.

Corey Kispert's Klay Thompson comparisons are no longer new. In fact, the young Wizards wing previously talked about how the Warriors star has always been the โ€œgold standardโ€ for him.

โ€œThe guy has been the gold standard for me since foreverโ€ฆ You see how much the Warriors miss him since he's been out. I want to be as close to that as I can,โ€ Kispert shared last July way before the NBA Draft.

Kispert, of course, has a lot of work to do to be on the same level as Klay and provide the same impact as him. However, he has definitely shown flashes of his elite shooting throughout the summer leagueโ€“albeit in an inconsistent way.

In the three summer league games he has played in so far, the Wizards rookie is 7-of-20 on 3-pointers. Kispert struggled in his first two outings, but he made up for it in a recent game with the Milwaukee Bucks in which he scored 18 on 4-of-7 shooting from deep.

The 22-year-old may be nowhere near Thompson's level for now, but he surely has the necessary tools to become one of the premier shooters in the NBA.
