Since entering the NBA as an unheralded prospect, one of the knocks on Kyle Kuzma has been his lack of maturity. While he definitely has the skills, his mental toughness has been largely questioned. But in his first season with the Washington Wizards, it appears Kuzma has finally got it.

The Wizards scored an impressive road win against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night, 116-107. The Celtics attempted a late rally in the fourth quarter, but Kuzma and company managed to stave it off.

After the win, Kuzma said they weren't rattled in the closing moments, giving a self-aware assessment of the Wizards (via ESPN).

“I think we did a great job of just breathing, slowing it down, and figuring our composure out. I think once we did that, we did a great job. Obviously, those moments are great and it's great to have them on the road.”

Kuzma, you're all grown up now.

His remarks sound like he's truly embraced a leadership role for the Wizards, even though he's a new face on the roster. His championship experience with the Los Angeles Lakers will surely help the squad, which improved to 3-1 after the win over the Celtics.

Kuzma finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. While his shooting has remained subpar, he's been doing a lot of intangibles for the Wizards on both ends of the floor.

They will next face the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
