The Washington Wizards have signed forward/center Lavoy Allen to a training camp deal, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. Allen was slated to play in the G League with the Wizards' new affiliate, the Capital City Go Go, but will now compete for the 15th and final roster spot available.

Allen, a six-year NBA veteran, split his time between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Indiana Pacers as a big man reserve. He's been working out in Washington for the past week and will now get the chance to get back to the NBA after a year's absence during the 2017-18 season.

The Temple alum has career averages of 4.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and could potentially serve as a backup to Markieff Morris and Dwight Howard throughout the course of the season.

The Wizards will need reinforcements in the frontcourt and Allen could do so as a veteran. The main question would prove to be hinged on his conditioning, last sporting a 6-foot-9 and 260-pound frame, which doesn't bode well for today's modern up-and-down NBA game.

Allen has proven a solid rebounder when given minutes, but the Wizards will want to see that his stamina and motor are also up to par before considering him for the last roster spot heading into the start of the season.
