After a down season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Montrezl Harrell is eager to get his groove back with the Washington Wizards.

In his introductory press conference, Harrell detailed his motivation heading into his first year with the Wizards.

Via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington:

“I haven’t been an All-Star in this league since I’ve been here. So, I feel like I have a lot of untapped talents. I haven’t been to an NBA Finals, I haven’t won a championship. There’s a lot of things I haven’t done as a player, so there’s a lot of untapped [potential] that I feel like I can reach.”

After winning the 2019-20 season's Sixth Man of the Year award, Harrell was considered by many as a prime acquisition by the then-defending champions. However, the dip in his performance coincided with the Lakers' tumultuous run last season.

Harrell needed a fresh start and it's exactly what he got when the Lakers and Wizards agreed on a blockbuster trade centered on Russell Westbrook. The 6-foot-7 bundle of energy saw his scoring and rebounding averages increase year after year, only to hit a snag in his one year with the Lakers.

He'll find quite the competition in the Wizards' frontline, though. Rui Hachimura and Kyle Kuzma will fight for minutes at the four spot. Thomas Bryant and Daniel Gafford showed serious flashes of what they could contribute to the Wizards last season.

Harrell's relentless hustle and energy will be his main assets. He'll be taking zero off-nights at that, putting him in good shape for a bounceback campaign.
