Paul Pierce, now an NBA analyst at ESPN, shared some of his experience with former teammate John Wall during his short stint with the Washington Wizards.

The Truth signed with the Wizards after a failed stint with the Brooklyn Nets, getting to know the speed demon through the 2014-15 season.

“First off, he’s so fast and dynamic,” said Pierce in his analysis. “You can’t get up on him and crowd him. That’s when he drives to the hole. He’ll dunk on you with the left, with the right.”

“He has the handles of a small guy even though he stands 6’3. He has the speed of an NFL running back. So you pretty much have to give him space and let him shoot the jumper. If not, he’ll embarrass you all night. That’s why I consider him the best point guard in the league.”

Wall entered this league as one of the fastest players with the ball from end-to-end. As he matured, he started to work on his change of speed, which made him not only a lethal weapon on the fast break, but a terror in isolation.

The Kentucky product had his worst game of the young season on Wednesday night, though, scoring only 18 points and shooting 7-of-22 from the field in the Wizards' first loss of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers.
