Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks is extremely displeased after a Philadelphia 76ers fan poured popcorn on Russell Westbrook when he was leaving the game due to injury.

Russ appears to have sustained a leg injury early in the fourth quarter of Game 2, forcing him to go to the locker room. However, as he was exiting, popcorn suddenly poured in on him—seemingly intentional given the timing. Westbrook was so heated that he wanted to climb the stands to confront the person who threw the popcorn on him, and he had to be restrained due to the incident.

After the contest, which saw the Wizards lose 120-95, Brooks addressed the issue and called for the league to investigate and ban whoever did the disrespectful act.

“Very disrespectful. Philadelphia is better than that if that did happen. Hopefully, the person is banned from the league from watching any games because that’s unacceptable. They wouldn’t do that down the street,” Brooks shared, per Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.

Indeed, there is no room for such antics in the NBA. While trash-talking is normal—particularly in the playoffs where the intensity is high—throwing stuff at opposing players is a big no. It goes beyond just talking trash and annoying opponents, especially for professional athletes.

Sure Sixers fans are known to being one of the most passionate fans, given that they are also harsh on the team whenever they lose, but what happened to the Wizards star is just unacceptable.

It remains to be seen what the NBA and Sixers organization will do about the matter, but there will definitely be consequences.
