Another day, another record for the one and only Russell Westbrook. The Washington Wizards star notched another triple-double on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons and unsurprisingly, it led to another NBA record for Russ.

Westbrook is now the new record-holder for amassing at least 25 triple-doubles in multiple seasons (h/t ESPN Stats & Info on Twitter):

That second bit is also worth noting, too. The Wizards star is now well on his way to beating the all-time triple-double record which is currently held by the great Oscar Robertson. With just 10 triple-doubles to go, Russ could very well set a new record before the end of this season.

Westbrook has been breaking all sorts of records throughout his career. So much so, that it has become somewhat commonplace. That's how good Russ is as a player that at this point in his career, these types of historic performances are no longer shocking. Nevertheless, this fact does not make them any less impressive.

More importantly, though, Westbrook's heroics have translated to victories for the Wizards. They entered Saturday's game on a three-game winning streak as they continue to improve their standing in the Eastern Conference. With just five games separating them and the eighth-placed Charlotte Hornets, a playoffs berth has all of a sudden become within striking distance for Washington. If Westbrook carries on with his blistering pace, then it wouldn't be surprising if the Wizards somehow end up contending for a spot in the playoffs come the tail end of the regular season.
