Russell Westbrook was traded to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal that sent John Wall to the Houston Rockets. While he won't have much time to get acquainted with his new team, Westbrook shared his first message to fans of the Capital City team since being traded.

It goes without saying that fans in the nation's capital are sad to see John Wall depart the franchise after spending nine seasons with them. What Wall did for the community in Washington will never go overlooked and fans will likely still cheer him on regardless of where he plays.

However, Russell Westbrook is going to be replacing Wall, forming a new duo on the Wizards alongside Bradley Beal. Despite not fitting in with the Rockets and their system, Westbrook still finished with 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game last season.

However, he shot a dismal 25.8 percent from the 3-point range, which was the second-lowest mark of his career. With that being said, he'll be coached by Scott Brooks, who has handled Westbrook before when both of them were with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Westbrook and Brooks spent seven seasons together in OKC, making the playoffs five times. Both of them will look to conjure up more success together in Washington, where Westbrook is evidently excited to play.

Some people questioned whether or not Westbrook would be content with playing the upcoming season in Washington. Telling by his message to fans, the nine-time All-Star is prepared to do everything he can to fill the void left behind by Wall.
