Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks says the team hasn't “officially” shut down center Dwight Howard for the rest of the season.
Howard is still recovering from back surgery. The big man is doing non-contact work.
Brooks says it's going to be tough for Howard to play again this season, but he's not giving up hope yet.
Brooks on if the Wiz have shut down Dwight Howard: "Not officially. He's still getting his work in, the hamstring problem. It hasn't yet turned a corner for him, but we still have 3 weeks or so. … It's gonna be tough but you never know."

Dwight Howard underwent surgery on his lower back on Nov. 30. The eight-time All-Star has only played in nine games this season for the Wizards after signing a two-year free agent deal with the team last summer.
Howard put up 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game before having the surgery. The former superstar was shooting 62.3 percent from the field and 60.4 percent from the free-throw line.
The Wizards have 11 games left in the regular season after Monday's game against the Utah Jazz. Washington is 30-40 on the season entering the said matchup. They are in the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference standings and 3.5 games back of the Miami Heat for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.
It's really sad what has happened to Howard's career ever since he was traded by the Orlando Magic. This is a guy who was once the best center in the league and loved by everyone.
