Shaquille O'Neal came to Russell Westbrook's defense after Stephen A. Smith commented on the triple-double he racked up in the Washington Wizards' win against the Indiana Pacers.

Smith emphasized that Westbrook's triple-double meant absolutely nothing to him, as Westbrook has still not delivered a championship in his basketball career. For his part, O'Neal had Westbrook's back and gave some encouraging words for the Wizards guard.

‘”A lot of people say certain things, and that's just an unfortunate part of this business,”‘ O'Neal said, via Mike Deprisco of NBC Sports.

“When you're a great player and you're putting up great numbers, people are always gonna say, ‘Wait until you have a championship.' If you don't get a championship, that's not a knock.”

Russell Westbrook has been averaging yet another triple-double season with the Wizards.  He has been averaging 21.8 points a game along with 10.3 rebounds and 10.6 assists.
