Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis admits All-Star point guard John Wall likely won't play in 2019-20.

Wall is recovering from an Achilles injury:

John Wall played in 32 games this past season before undergoing his season-ending heel surgery. Wall then fell at his house and tore his Achilles tendon. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 2018-19 while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Wall signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension (Designated Veteran Player Extension) with the Wizards in the summer of 2017. That contract kicks in next season. There's absolutely no point to rush Wall back in 2019-20. The Wizards aren't contenders right now, and the main focus of the franchise is getting Wall back to 100 percent.

Even if Washington wanted to trade Wall, they'd likely have a hard time doing so. No team is going to trade for Wall until they see him back on the court again. Ted Leonsis and the Wizards are currently trying to get All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal to sign an extension with the club. Beal has two years left on his current deal.

Wall, who will turn 29 in September, has career averages of 19.0 points and 9.2 assists in 573 games.
